Do you have trouble of losing personal documents when computer is going for format?
We store our musics, pictures and other personal documents in My Documents folder, which its default route is in C:\Documents And Settings\User\My Documents\. When something goes wrong (such as virus infected, windows failure) and need to format C:\, we'll lose our important documents. Here's a small tip we can prevent this to be happened.
Generally we can format the C:\ leaving other drives such as D:\ in its original state. Thus, we can set My Documents target to D:\ instead then we won't be panic when computer need to reinstall system.
First, you have to create a new folder in a different drive, manually move or copy all documents from My Documents to the new folder. After it, right click the My Documents folder at the desktop and choose "Properties", there, we can identify My Document's target, click on the "Move" button and browse to the new folder you've just created,"OK". You may double click at the My Document icon in the desktop, is it just like before? From now on, your computer can format C:\ and leave documents in D:\ with no worries.
